The Death of the Virgin
In the late Middle Ages, the death of the Virgin was usually represented in a contemporary domestic set-ting. Gathered around her bed are the twelve apostles. At upper centre Peter is about to bless the dying Virgin with a holy water sprinkler, while others are praying and reading in preparation for her departure.
