Restoration of the Saint John
SERIES TITLE: Open Images
The restoration of the medieval Saint John's Cathedral in 's-Hertogenbosch. Led by architect Tering the statues and ornaments made of sandstone that were used for the restoration in 1860 are removed. After they've been hosed down, the scultpor De Bresser restores the statues, and they receive a chemical conservation. De Bresser makes the ornaments from vesicular basalt.
