DC-8 detonated
Weeknummer 68-28
During a nighttime inspection in a hangar at the old Schiphol Airport, a KLM McDonnell Douglas DC-8 exploded and caught fire, injuring five workers. The aircraft burned out completely and the hangar was heavily damaged. The fire is thought to have been caused by a short circuit when the electrical wiring was renewed.
