The KLM machine ''Willem Bontekoe'' crashed

The KLM aircraft Willem Bontekoe crashed into the sea with nine crew members and twelve passengers 40 km off the coast of IJmuiden. The sea is searched for wreckage using aircraft. In the evening, the pilot boat Bellatrix brings some wreckage and the mortal remains of a 9-year-old boy ashore in IJmuiden. Despite this accident, KLM's services from Schiphol are not interrupted.
