Satellite ground station for international telephone traffic between America and Europe

A ground station has been built in Burum, Friesland, to make telephone calls via satellite. The radio telescope is connected to the Intelsat IV satellite. All calls to and from the Netherlands are routed through the International Traffic Control Centre in Amsterdam, which has a cable connection with the ground station in Burum.
