Pierre Jeanne, soldat mitrailleur à Verdun
Pierre Jeanne, gunner at Verdun
I found the letters that my father, François Martin, then 15 years old, received from his friend Pierre Jeanne, a machine-gunner on the Verdun front in 1916. This young man had joined the navy in 1910, at the age of 17, when he was probably employed on the farm of Désiré Martin, my grandfather, mayor of Saint-Martin-de-Blagny, in Calvados.
