Christine Geerken (1888-1960) came from near Oldenburg and was directly affected by the war. Her husband Johann Geerken belonged to the 79th Reserve Infantry Regiment and was deployed on the western front in France. He fell on August 17, 1915 on the Langekopf battlefield.
