Soldier Johann Hinrich Grimm at Western Front
Johann Grimm was born in Bergedorf near Worpswede in 1889. He completed an apprenticeship in a dairy and then worked as a dairy hand before being drafted. According to the military passport, he initially served in the 85th Infantry Regiment (recruit depot, reserve battalion Landwehr), which took part in battles in Belgium and France.
