Frank Brendan O'Carroll was the son of Professor Joseph O'Carroll, a Dublin physician, Governor of the Richmond Hospital and the only consultant physician to the British forces in Ireland. Joseph was offered a knighthood which he refused. CBE sent back after Croke Park and the burning of Cork.
