Philip Crean and Bartie Swift of Wexford town
“Philip Crean was my grandfather. He was in the Royal Naval Reserve, service number 2701B. He joined up for 15 years but as far as I know he left after 11 years with a reduced pension. Before that he was a plasterer like most of his family. He lived in Barrack Street in Wexford town. He served aboard several ships during the war, including the HMS Resolution. He was ‘lost at sea’ a couple of times…
