Johann Mathieu on the Eastern and Western Front
Johann Mathieu was born on May 23, 1893 in Weywertz. He worked as a postman until June 1915 when he joined the reserve battalion of the 65th Reserve Infantry Regiment, Recruit Depot I. Later he fought as a soldier in the 1st Machine Gun Company of the 332nd Infantry Regiment in the Baltic States, including near Jakobstadt (Jēkabpils).
